Coco Gauff has inspired LA Sparks' forward Cameron Brink for her pre-game outfit ahead of Sparks' encounter against Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever. Gauff has been wearing a New Balance kit since 2018.
LA Sparks took on Indiana Fever and defeated them 88-82. The 2024 WNBA draft Number 1 pick Caitlin Clark scored 30 points but could not ensure her team's victory. Kia Nurse scored the most points (22) for Sparks while Brink scored 3.
Before the game, Brink was asked to talk about her pre-game outfit. She said that she wore a Coco Gauff-inspired New Balance kit. The Sparks' star stunned in a white top and pleated skirt. She completed the look with New Balance 650 shoes and white socks.
"I am wearing my little new balance tennis set. I wanna be like Coco. New balance 650s, old school socks," Cameron Brink said.
Gauff's tennis gear has always impressed the fans. At the 2024 French Open, the American wore a grey top with a matching pleated skirt. The skirt also features a black band to add contrast to the outfit.
The 2023 US Open champion hilariously forgot her outfit details before the commencement of the tournament. In a TikTok live, she said that she forgot her outfit design. She said that New Balance's team showed her the design ideas 3-4 years from now.
"I low-key forgot what my Roland Garros outfit looks like. It's coming tomorrow, I think it's grey. They showed me a lot of sketches... I know what stuff looks like 3-4 years from now and I get them mixed up. I forgot which one is actually for this year, but I'm pretty sure it's gray," Gauff said in a TikTok live, a video of which was uploaded on X by a fan.
Coco Gauff's involvement in designing her kits
New Balance designers recently spoke to Forbes about Coco Gauff being thoroughly involved in the process of designing her jerseys. The designer said that the team talked to Gauff for her feedback on the older kit and any new thing that she was looking to try.
After creating a design according to the American's feedback, the ideas are presented to her for further feedback.
"Coco is very involved in this process, so she provides her feedback throughout the design process. The teams always start by speaking with Coco to see any feedback she had on past kits or anything she would like to try. Once we have that, the teams meet and discuss ideas and then those ideas are presented to Coco for additional feedback. Then we go into the full design process. Coco and her family are very involved throughout," the designer added.
Coco Gauff will lock horns with Dayana Yastremska in the third round at the 2024 French Open.
