Barbora Krejcikova's form has continued to decline since her triumph at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships after another early exit at the Wuhan Open. Her shocking loss in Wuhan against an opponent ranked outside the top 100 left many fans questioning her triumph in London.

Krejcikova was seeded seventh at the 2024 Wuhan Open and, after a first-round bye, began her maiden campaign at the tournament against World No. 102 Hailey Baptiste. The American qualifier gave a tough fight to the Czech No. 1. She recovered from a breakdown in both sets to emerge victorious 6-3, 7-5 and notch his maiden top 10 win on the WTA Tour.

This was Krejcikova's fourth loss in her last five matches. In fact, since her title run at the 2024 Wimbledon Championship, the Czech has only managed to win back-to-back matches at one event, the 2024 Paris Olympics. She lost to Slovakia's Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in the quarterfinals in Paris.

Since then, the former World No. 2 lost to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the second round at the US Open, Jaqueline Cristian at the China Open, and Baptiste in Wuhan. Her most recent loss surprised many fans.

One fan even questioned how the Czech won Wimbledon when she could not beat a player ranked as low as Baptiste. She responded to the critical comment by cleverly writing that the secret to her Wimbledon triumph was winning seven matches in a row.

"How did Barbora Krejcikova win Wimbledon," a fan wrote.
"I won 7 matches in a row. That’s how," Krejcikova responded.

Barbora Krejcikova was seeded 31st at the 2024 Wimbledon Championship. She defeated Veronika Kudermetova, Katie Volynets, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, 11th seed Danielle Collins, 13th seed Jelena Ostapenko, fourth seed Elena Rybakina, and seventh seed Jasmine Paolini en route to the title.

Barbora Krejcikova was nowhere near contention for the 2024 WTA Finals until the 2024 Wimbledon Championship. The victory in London helped the Czech re-enter the top 10 of the WTA ranking and gave her a way into the year-end championships. She will automatically qualify for the WTA Finals in Riyadh if she is ranked in the top 20 on 4 November.

Krejcikova is currently ranked World No. 10 and placed 12th in the Race to WTA Finals. She will most likely stay inside the top 20 of the WTA ranking until the deadline for Finals qualification and make the cut for the tournament for the second time in her career. She played in the 2021 WTA Finals.

Apart from Wimbledon, Barbora Krejcikova has largely flown under the radar this year. Her lone standout performance outside London came at the Australian Open, where she reached the quarterfinals. Moreover, the former Roland Garros champion will end 2024 without a single win at the WTA 1000 level.
