Iga Swiatek opened up about her upcoming showdown against the former US Open champion Emma Raducanu. The Pole, after making it to the third round of the 2025 Australian Open, unveiled being cautious against the British rival. Despite consistently being in the top 3 for a long time, the WTA star expressed consciousness amid preparations for her next matchup.

Swiatek has faced Raducanu for a total of three times in the past. As a result of her dominance, the Pole leads the head-to-head with a massive 3-0 advantage. While Raducanu has shown an impressive rise by taking down tough rivals including Ekaterina Alexandrova and Amanda Anisimova, Swiatek's thoughts didn't come out without a strong base.

In a press conference following her 2R win over Rebecca Sramkova, Iga Swiatek appeared to be cautious about her upcoming showdown against Emma Raducanu.

"Well you know more than me because I thought we played two times but doesn't matter. Well for sure it's going to be a tough one, you know Emma can play great tennis," she said.

The World No. 2 also ignored the major ranking difference between her and Raducanu, making it clear that this isn't an appropriate factor to determine who has better odds in tennis.

"Honestly, there's no point to look at rankings especially when you have these great players that already have been through like great tournaments and they can play well. Maybe they're not consistent to have the ranking but still like you need to be on your toes and ready because you don't know what they'll show this week. So no I don't look at rankings at all," she added.

Emma Raducanu attained her career-high ranking of World No. 10 back in 2022. However, the massive toll of injuries didn't let her stay consistent on this spot as she went through multiple surgeries on her wrists and ankles in 2023.

Ever since she recovered, the Briton has been aiming to regain her form but has faced multiple setbacks. With her upcoming showdown against the 5-time Grand Slam champion, she has a big opportunity ahead of her.

Emma Raducanu couldn't stop herself from expressing sheer excitement after making it to the third round at the 2025 Australian Open. The 22-year-old didn't even drop the slightest gesture of being nervous about facing the World No. 2 Iga Swiatek in her upcoming 3R match.

In an on-court interview, after moving past Anisimova in straight sets, the WTA star mentioned how she sees the challenge against Swiatek as an opportunity.

“It will be a very good match for me. Every match I can play against these top opponents, I’m loving it. I have nothing to lose, I’m just going to swing and give it my best," she said.
