Iga Swiatek seems to be recharging herself ahead of what would be a fortnight of high-octane action at the 2025 Australian Open. The Polish superstar will resume her hunt for a maiden crown at Melbourne Park.

Choosing an all-white ensemble and a pair of shades for a day out in the sun, Swiatek took a trip to Brighton Beach to enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Melbourne. The former World No. 1 took to Instagram to share pictures of herself along the ocean and in front of colorful beach cottages.

Iga Swiatek lost 4-6, 4-6 to Coco Gauff in the United Cup final on Sunday. The Polish star played five grueling matches over the course of the week before her runner-up finish.

Swiatek will aim to give her body all the rest it needs ahead of the hardcourt season, which is a surface she’s found little success on.

Iga Swiatek on a comeback trail after a topsy-turvy 2024

Iga Swiatek will be eager to begin 2025 on a positive note after a roller-coaster 2024. She won a clutch of big-ticket tournaments, including her third successive French Open title and a bronze at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but a failed dope test threw a spanner in the works.

Swiatek tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine and was provisionally suspended. She was later handed a one-month ban, but the whole incident took a massive toll on her.

Here's what she said in a chat with the Tennis Insider Club on January 6, 2025 [41:54 onwards]:

"I fought for everything so hard the past years. What if people are going to, in their head, like take it away from me? What if they're going to look at me differently? I was home at the time and still there were like people coming for autographs or for a selfie. And I was like 'Well, are you gonna do that in one month?"

She elaborated on how challenging that tumultuous phase was, adding [40:29 onwards]:

“You can be at peace with yourself that you didn't do anything wrong, but no one actually treats you like that. Especially the people that are kind of prosecuting you. Even when you’re telling the truth, you feel like they treat you like a liar.”

It was also during this period that she parted ways with her former coach Tomasz Wiktorowski after their three-year association and brought Wim Fissette on board.

Putting the past behind her, Iga Swiatek, with a new coach by her side, will hope to break her jinx at the Australian Open and clinch her maiden title at the Melbourne Slam.
