Iga Swiatek and Wim Fissette’s journey till now
Iga Swiatek, the former World No.1, embarked on a new chapter in her career by appointing Belgian coach Wim Fissette to her team in October 2024. This decision followed her amicable split with long-time coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, under whose guidance she won four Grand Slam titles, including three French Open victories and one US Open title.
Wim Fissette brings a wealth of experience, having previously coached top-tier players such as Kim Clijsters, Simona Halep, Angelique Kerber and Naomi Osaka. His expertise is expected to provide Swiatek with fresh perspectives and strategies as she aims to further cement her place in the sport.
Since their partnership began, Swiatek has participated in two tournaments. At the 2024 WTA Finals in Riyadh, she was eliminated in the group stage after a defeat by Coco Gauff 3-6, 4-6, which was her first tournament after the ban. And now she has reached the semifinal of the Australian Open without dropping a set and barely missed a spot in the final after facing a defeat by Madison Keys in a deciding tie-break.
Swiatek's collaboration with Fissette shows her commitment to continuously evolving her game and envisioning a long-term perspective in her career. As they continue their journey together, the tennis world keenly watches how this duo will navigate the challenges ahead and strive for further success.
