Iga Swiatek has avoided further scrutiny in her doping case as WADA has chosen not to appeal the ITIA's decision, unlike in Jannik Sinner's case. Both Swiatek and Sinner failed doping tests in 2024 and received no-fault verdicts from the ITIA. However, WADA later appealed the ruling in Sinner’s case.

On Monday, January 20, WADA announced it would not appeal Swiatek's doping case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The Pole tested positive for trimetazidine (TMZ), a banned substance, in August 2024. However, the ITIA determined her positive test resulted from a "contaminated melatonin product."

Swiatek accepted a one-month suspension, which the ITIA deemed appropriate given the circumstances. WADA’s review, completed after receiving the case file on 29 November, found the athlete’s explanation of contamination to be "plausible and that there would be no scientific grounds to challenge it at CAS."

Meanwhile, WADA has appealed World No. 1 Sinner's ITIA ruling on his doping case and sought a two-year ban. The case will be heard by CAS in April.

Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner have powered into the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open, showcasing exceptional form in Melbourne, the season's first Grand Slam.

On Monday, January 20, she overwhelmed lucky loser Eva Lys 6-0, 6-1. Swiatek is now set to face eighth seed Emma Navarro in the quarterfinals.

Jannik Sinner has been equally impressive, dispatching Nicolas Jarry, Tristan Schoolkate, and Marcos Giron before overcoming Holger Rune 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in a hard-fought fourth-round clash.

Despite appearing to struggle with discomfort, the defending champion advanced and will face either Alex de Minaur or Alex Michelsen in the quarterfinals.
