Iga Swiatek's unconventional preparation for the grasscourt season in the lead-up to the 2024 Wimbledon Championships has drawn hilarious reactions from tennis fans. The grasscourt Major is set to commence on July 1.

Swiatek enjoyed an outstanding claycourt season, winning back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in Madrid and Rome, and also clinching her fourth French Open title. However, these consecutive triumphs left the World No. 1 "physically and mentally fatigued," prompting her to postpone the start of her grasscourt season by pulling out of the ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin.

Despite withdrawing from the WTA 500 event in Berlin, Iga Swiatek has begun her preparations for the grasscourt swing, albeit not on traditional grass. The Pole was instead spotted practicing on astroturf, or artificial grass.

Although the Pole won the girls' singles title at the 2018 Wimbledon Championships, she has struggled at SW19 on the professional tour, failing to advance past the quarterfinals. Last year, the 23-year-old even admitted that she hasn't "figured out" the grasscourt season yet.

Given Swiatek's struggles on grass, fans were amused by her choosing to practice on astroturf and joked about how her campaign at Wimbledon would unfold.

"Well, She will go to Wimbledon only with vibes, actually very iconic of her," one fan wrote.
"Arriving at R1 Wimbledon and quietly unrolling a patch of astroturf on her side of the court," another fan commented.

Meanwhile, other fans teased the World No. 1 for being "unserious" about the grasscourt season, poking fun at her for training on "fake grass."

"This is unserious as f**k omg😭😭😭😭," one fan posted.
"Lmfo not in my tennis club on the fake grass," a fan wrote.
"Not Iga training on fake grass 😭 Girl, I hope you trying to fool your mind that you like grass," another fan chimed in.

Several fans also joked that Iga Swiatek is simply taking a step-by-step approach to her grasscourt preparation.

"Well, she needs to adjust to the color first. she’s implementing her step by step approach!" a fan commented.
"We wanted her to practice on grass and she thought green color would be enough for us," said another.

Iga Swiatek: "I realize that I haven't fully discovered my potential on grass yet"

Speaking to the Polish media after her French Open triumph, Iga Swiatek expressed her desire to be successful at the Wimbledon Championships while admitting that she hasn't fully realized her potential on grass yet.

"I want to be successful wherever I play - you know! We do not underestimate any tournament, especially the Grand Slam. But I realize that I haven't fully discovered my potential on grass yet. So I'll concentrate on work," Iga Swiatek said (via Przeglad Sportowy).

The World No. 1 also spoke about the quick turnaround back to clay for the Paris Olympics after the grasscourt Major, confidently asserting that she will only need "two days" to make the transition.

"I think it would be a bigger challenge if there was grass first, clay in the middle, and grass again. Going back to the clay won't be a problem for me. When I come back to it after a whole year, two days are enough and I feel great on clay," she added.

In contrast to Iga Swiatek remaining unfazed by the challenge, other players like Aryna Sabalenka, Ons Jabeur and Emma Raducanu have decided to pull out of the Paris Olympics, citing concerns like the surface shift, demanding schedule and injury risks.
