Andy Murray recently dazzled in his first modeling shoot since retiring from tennis. The British tennis icon was featured in the October issue of Modern Luxury Manhattan magazine.
Murray retired after a well-decorated 19-year career. He played his last match in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he partnered with Dan Evans, representing Great Britain against the USA duo of Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.
On Thursday, photos from Andy Murray's shoot with Modern Luxury were posted on Instagram. One image featured only his head visible above the water, with the rest of his body submerged. Other images showed him donning a brown coat, and in a different photo, he wore a leather jacket while sitting in a golf cart.
Murray appeared on the cover of Modern Luxury Manhattan magazine, wearing an ash-patterned coat while standing in a field of tall, dry grass. In the accompanying interview, he reflected on his time on tour, highlighting how handling losses and learning from them determines your success.
“I think dealing with mistakes and failures and setbacks is probably the thing that you learn the most from. As a professional tennis player, you’re losing pretty much every single week when you’re competing—and how you learn to deal with those losses and what you take away from them is going to determine how successful you’re going to be. I think that’s something that will definitely help me improve at whatever it is that I decide to do in the next part of my life,” Andy Murray said.
Andy Murray shares his plans to spend more time with his family after retirement
In an interview with BBC in August, Murray opened up about his plans to spend more time with his family after retiring. The former World No. 1 married his long-time girlfriend Kim Sears in 2015, and they have four children: three girls and a boy. In the interview, he said:
“I'm looking forward to having experiences with my family, which I've not had time to do because of the tennis, I'm looking forward to being at home with them consistently and not having to explain to my children why I’m going away. They don't care about the tennis but they're always asking when I’m coming home. Being at home with them and getting to do normal things. I love dropping them off at school and picking them up. I love doing sport with them,” Murray said.
His family occasionally accompanied him to his matches, including at the 2024 Wimbledon Championship, where his wife Kim was seen in the stands with their two eldest daughters, Sophia and Edie, along with his mother, Judy Murray.
Andy Murray's elder brother, Jamie, is also a tennis player and is still active on the ATP Tour. He specializes mainly in doubles and has won two Grand Slam doubles titles and five mixed doubles titles.
