Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and Leylah Fernandez put their best fashion foot forward as they joined other top WTA players at the Player's Reception Party ahead of the 2024 Wuhan Open. The WTA 1000 event is underway and will conclude on Sunday, October 13.

The party was an opportunity for players to let their hair down before competing in the 64-player main draw that will see the likes of Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen.

The WTA's official channel on Instagram shared pictures of the players as they arrived for the event. The players can be seen posing in front of an art installation with flowers and pandas.

"Very demure, very mindful," read the WTA on Instagram's lighthearted caption.

After a quarterfinal run at the China Open, Aryna Sabalenka arrived at the party in Wuhan with an understated and elegant fashion choice. In the picture, she can be seen wearing a tailored beige sleeveless blouse with coordinated trousers.

Sabalenka accessorized her look with a black clutch, layered necklace, and a watch as she posed for the cameras.

Jessica Pegula traded her little black dress from the China Open player's party for a striped long dress in Wuhan. She paired them with a patterned slip-on and carried a small handbag, while Leylah Fernandez donned an olive green shrug over a short black dress paired with grey sneakers

Both Sabalenka and Pegula have received a first-round bye while Fernandez will clash with Diana Schnaider for a Round of 32 spot.

Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula are strong contenders in running for the 2024 Wuhan Open title. However, they may have to overcome the likes of Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini who will also be eyeing the trophy.

Notable withdrawals include Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Ons Jabeur.

Sabalenka will enter the tournament at the back of a quarterfinal run at the 2024 China Open in Beijing. She was defeated by eventual runner-up, Karolina Muchova. The tournament will also afford the Belarusian a chance to overtake Swiatek for the top rank.

Sabalenka is also the defending champion, having won the 2019 Wuhan Open. The event has returned as part of the WTA tour after a gap of four years.

Jessica Pegula was last seen on court in the Round of 16 at the 2024 China Open, where she was bested by Paula Badosa. Speaking via tennis.com on October 6, the World No. 3 looked forward to competing at the event.

“I think I played some good tennis in Beijing, so I want to keep building on that, improving, and learning from what I could have done better last week so I can take it into this week,” Jessica Pegula said.

Pegula had previously lost to Polona Hercog in the opening round of the 2019 Wuhan Open.
