Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz recently won their second-round doubles match at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Spanish duo also shared a heartwarming embrace after securing their place in the quarterfinals.
Alcaraz made his debut in this year's Games, while Nadal is playing in his fourth and final Olympics. They kicked off their doubles campaign by defeating the sixth-seeded Argentine pair of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni with a score of 7-6(4), 6-4 in the first round.
Most recently, the Spanish duo triumphed over Dutchmen Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof 6-4, 6-7(2), 10-2 in two hours and 24 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face the fourth-seeded American duo of Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram.
With their win in the second round, Nadal and Alcaraz became the first Spanish team to reach the men's doubles quarterfinals at the Olympics since the 2016 Rio Olympics, when the 22-time Grand Slam champion and Marc Lopez did it and eventually went on to win the gold medal.
Following their win over Griekspoor and Koolhof, the World No.3 took to social media to share a heartwarming picture of him and Nadal embracing.
"Who wants a little more of Nadalcaraz???" Alcaraz posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Before commencing their campaign at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Spanish tennis team talked to the press where Rafael Nadal stated that he and Carlos Alcacaz have a good relationship. He said that watching the younger Spaniard make his Olympic debut is a "nice" feeling and that being with Alcaraz "rejuvenates" him.
"We have maintained a good relationship, an opportunity to get to know each other better and to live together. Being with him rejuvenates you . It's nice to see someone like Carlos [Alcaraz] live his first Olympic Games," Nadal said.
At the same press conference, Carlos Alcaraz stated that he loves playing doubles matches but has not been able to play much of them because of his singles matches. He also expressed that he will use the opportunity of playing alongside Nadal to learn from him.
"I like playing it [doubles matches], but I've never been able to because of the singles. I can learn everything from Rafa. That way of competing, of fighting, and that humility off the court," Alcaraz said.
Apart from their doubles matches, in the singles event, Carlos Alcaraz has reached the third round at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal's singles campaign came to an end when he lost to Novak Djokovic in the second round.
