Boris Becker recently shared pictures from his dreamy wedding with his fiancee Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. Becker and Lilian have been together since 2022.
Lilian, a political risk manager, and the former World No. 1 stunned in white as they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Portofino, Italy. Becker took to Instagram to share highlights from the ceremony and also thanked friends and family who made their day special.
"New beginnings… I want to thank Victor Monteiro for his blessings and everyone that celebrated this special day with us. Let me introduce you to the Monteiro-Becker family," Becker wrote.
The happy couple was surrounded by 150 people including ATP chairperson Andrea Gaudenzi, Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit, German actor and model Boris Kodjoe, and Becker’s sons from his first marriage, Noah and Elias Becker. The wedding was a lavish three-day affair with Becker and Lilian arriving on a boat for their pre-wedding dinner.
This is the German's third marriage. He was previously married to a German-American designer and actress, Barbara Becker, from 1993 to 2001. He was also married to Dutch model Lily Becker from 2009 to 2018.
Boris Becker and his now-wife Lilian met when the former was facing a tough time. The German was charged with a prison sentence for hiding his assets in a bankruptcy declaration. Lilian stood by him as he navigated a challenging time.
Boris Becker - "Prison life is a very dangerous place"
Boris Becker opened up about his prison experience in an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour. The former World No. 1 said he prepared himself by watching movies but was still caught off-guard.
“Prison life is a very dangerous place. I watched a couple of movies beforehand just to prepare myself a little bit, but I didn’t expect it like that. It’s very scary. It’s a real punishment. I mean, prison’s supposed to be that, but it’s a real punishment taking away your freedom, your livelihood," Becker said.
He said that the only currency he had was his character and personality.
“The only currency you have is your character and your personality – literally – and you better make friends with the strong boys because you need protection, you need a group of people that look out for you,” he added.
Boris Becker retired in 1999 after winning six Grand Slam titles, including winning Wimbledon at just 17 years old.
