Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic recently met with Formula One stars Pierre Gasly and George Russell as the drivers made a 'pitstop' at Wimbledon 2024 on July 10. The duo caught the quarterfinal action on day 10 of The Championships.
Wimbledon has been the go-to destination for A-listers, with many sportspersons such as David Beckham, Sachin Tendulkar, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Butler, Leah Williamson, and Pep Guardiola, among others, paying a visit.
Recently, Alpine driver Pierre Gasly was pictured at the grasscourt major along with his girlfriend Kika Cerqueira Gomes. The couple was all dressed up in formal attire as the Wimbledon protocol dictates, with the French driver looking dapper in a suit, while his partner complimented him in a white pantsuit and a blue sweater. The Formula One star met defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and posed together for a picture.
English driver George Russell also made an appearance at SW19 to take in the quarterfinal action, accompanied by his girlfriend Carmen Montero. The couple were dressed in suits, in compliance with Wimbledon rules. The Mercedes driver met the semifinal-bound Novak Djokovic.
Gasly and Russell seemingly recovered from the nightmare at the British Grand Prix, where both the drivers DNF'd (did not finish) the race. It was particularly bad for the British driver who started the race in pole position and was touted to win the British GP in front of his home crowd. The French driver, on the other hand, retired before the race even began.
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are both in the semifinals, on course for Wimbledon 2023 rematch
Novak Djokovic has put behind the horrors of the French Open, where he got injured in the fourth round, to reach the semifinals at Wimbledon 2024. He made a miraculous recovery from knee surgery to be fit for the grasscourt Major.
The Serb defeated Vit Kopriva, challenging his serve six times while not facing a break point himself. He carried on his scintillating form into the second round to dash hopes of the young Brit, Jacob Fearnley. The World No. 2 then downed Alexei Popyrin in the third round before dismantling Holger Rune in the fourth.
With a walkover in the quarterfinals due to Alex de Minaur's injury, the Serb has reached the semifinals for a record-tying 13 times (tied with Roger Federer).
Carlos Alcaraz has carried his form from the French Open to reach the semifinals at SW19 once again. The Spaniard has defeated Mark Lajal, Aleksander Vukic, Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert, and Tommy Paul to reach the final four.
Djokovic will now face Lorenzo Musetti while Alcaraz will battle Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals.
