Carlos Alcaraz couldn't advance further than the third round at the ATP World Tour Finals, as he was bested by Alexander Zverev on November 15. Following this exit, the Spaniard was asked about his performance in the tournament in the press conference and whether he was exhausted by the season's end. Replying to this, the player revealed his goal and said that he was not mentally where he aimed to be.

"It is a goal, as I said, I think this year I came to this part of the year much better than last year, but way far from where I want to rest," said Carlos Alcaraz. "For me, it is a goal to come here, come to this part of the year, as much fresh mentally as I can, try to find every place, every tournament, every match enjoyable."

Along with this, the 21-year-old also opened up about missing his family when he was away for tournaments.

"Yeah, it is not easy," Carlos Alcaraz said. "It is not easy, at least for me, traveling a lot in this part of the year. I miss home. I want to spend time with my close people at home. I have to travel. I have to play more tournaments, more matches. But anyway, as I said, I have to find it enjoyable playing these kind of tournaments, because is a privilege. But, yeah, next year I will try to be better on that part."

After winning against Shelton in the Garden Cup, Carlos Alcaraz faced off against Frances Tiafoe in the exhibition match.
