Coco Gauff recently enjoyed a day off with her mother Candi Gauff after the conclusion of the French Open. The American also showed off her new Afro look.
Gauff had a good campaign in Paris, reaching the semifinals in singles where she lost to Iga Swiatek. In doubles, she went a step ahead and won the title. The American, partnering with Katerina Siniakova, defeated Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani in the final.
Before beginning the grass season, Guaff spent some time with her mother Candi, rocking her new Afro look. She took to Instagram to share a picture from the day out and her look. The 2023 US Open champion credited haircare brand Carol's Daughter for her good hair day.
"Good fro day! thanks to @carlosdaughter," Coco Gauff wrote.
Gauff joined Carol's Daughter as a brand ambassador in April 2024. In a press release, the 2023 US Open champion expressed her delight in partnering with the brand. She said she was excited to empower women and girls to embrace curls and coils.
Coco Gauff on winning the doubles title at the 2024 French Open - "When you least expect it to happen, it happens"
Coco Gauff lifted the doubles title at the 2024 French Open but according to her, the victory was unexpected. The American said in the press conference that after losing two Grand Slam finals, a doubles title was not in her sight.
"Yeah doubles, I definitely didn't think it would happen to me to be frank. I think that was like one of the few times in my life after I lost the first two finals I was like okay well you know I reached to that point maybe I should focus on singles," Gauff said.
Gauff said it was similar to when she won the 2023 US Open. The American said she was coming off a bad year but ended up lifting the US Open title.
"But yeah I think it's just one of those things that just, when you least expect it to happen it happens. Same thing in the US Open. When I won, I didn't expect to win. I was having a really bad year and then here I didn't even expect to play. So I think it's funny how life teaches you those lessons, that sometimes it's better just to be relaxed and good things will happen," she said.
