Former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard recently celebrated her 29th birthday with her twin sister Beatrice. The sisters were named after Prince Andrew's daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice of York.

Bouchard rose to fame in 2014, a year that was by far the most successful of her career. In the 2014 season, Bouchard reached the semifinals of the Australian Open as well as the French Open. She then etched her name in the record books of Canadian tennis history by becoming the first Canadian-born player to represent Canada in the final of a Grand Slam tournament, the 2014 Wimbledon Championships. However, she failed to win the coveted title, losing to Petra Kvitova in straight sets.

The World No. 317 took to social media to post pictures of her birthday celebrations with Beatrice, who is just six minutes older than her.

"Celebrating our bday [birthday] together for the first time in 8 years," Eugenice Bouchard captioned the post.
"Also who is who in the 2nd pic," she wrote in the comments.

Eugenie Bouchard also shared an array of Instagram stories featuring birthday wishes from some of her friends as well as a glimpse of her birthday celebrations in Tulum, Mexico.

For many years, Eugenie Bouchard and her twin sister had a strained relationship due to being separated at a very young age. In 2004, after their parents split up, the twins were separated; while Beatrice lived with their father, Eugenie lived with their mother.

In a conversation with German media outlet Blick in 2021, Beatrice reflected on her relationship with her sister, stating that they were "definitely not a simple, happy, perfect family."

"It's very funny. I know someone in the grocery store better than my twin sister," Beatrice said. "We are definitely not a simple, happy, perfect family. Even anything but that. Our parents got divorced, they weren't happy with each other. Genie was with my mother for most of her life from then on. Myself, our siblings Charlotte and William with my father. So we grew up separately."

Eugenie Bouchard was last seen in action at the 2023 Australian Open, where she lost in the first round of the qualifiers.
