As 2024 ends, Venus Williams has shared her favorite outfits of the year. From her broken-mirrored dress at the Met Gala to her stylish outfit at the Lacoste show during Paris Fashion Week, Williams has shown off her great sense of style once again over the year.
The 44-year-old has made her mark in the fashion industry over the years. In 2007, she partnered with retailer Steve & Barry's to launch her own fashion line, EleVen. She has also collaborated with her sister Serena and worked with other notable fashion brands.
On Friday, Venus Williams shared seven of her favorite outfits from 2024. The first two slides featured the dresses she wore to the 2024 Met Gala. One was a strapless black dress, decorated with colorful sequins and beads in various patterns. The second was a strapless gown with a broken-mirror design.
The third slide showed her look for Vogue World Paris 2024, a black, white, and red dress with a fitted top featuring cut-out designs, pockets, straps, and a front slit.
The former World No. 1 also posted a photo of a bright yellow gown, which she wore to the Lacoste show during Paris Fashion Week.
In the fifth slide, she was in a gray trench coat layered over a light shirt and shorts. She accessorized with a white handbag, patterned socks, and silver shoes, completing her look at the Prada SS 2025 show.
The final two slides were her outfits from Paris Fashion Week and the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2024-2025 show.
Venus Williams - “My mom ended up sewing my tennis skirts for my first professional tennis match”
In an interview with FASHIONISTA in November 2023, Venus Williams discussed her passion for fashion and how it all began. She shared the story of the first skirt she wore for her debut professional tennis match against Shaun Stafford, a former NCAA singles champion, at the 1994 Bank of the West Classic in Oakland, California.
"Fashion started at a grassroots level for me," Williams tells Fashionista. "My mom ended up sewing my tennis skirts for my first professional tennis match. I still love it at that creation level. I studied fashion, and it was a great experience. It taught me so much about the garment, what that means and how to create something that's entirely you," Venus Williams said.
At the tournament, Williams defeated Stafford 6-3, 6-4 in the first round. In the second round, she faced eventual champion Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, who beat her 2-6, 6-3, 6-0. Venus Williams went on to win the tournament twice, in 2000 and 2002, before it merged with the Citi Open in 2023.
