Iga Swiatek seemingly had a fun day at ‘The Office,’ as famed Hollywood actor Steve Carell stopped by at Wimbledon ahead of the Grand Slam event. The ‘Despicable Me 4’ star posed with the World No. 1 during the visit.

Swiatek is gearing up for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, which begin on Monday, July 1. The Pole, who did not participate in any lead-up events after her French Open triumph, has ramped up her preparations on the tournament grounds. On Friday, June 28, she practiced with Caroline Garcia on the Centre Court.

Steve Carell, who played Micael Scott in the American mockumentary sitcom 'The Office,' was at the venue, too. He visited the Centre Court and took in the sights from the balcony. He also posed with former British player Laura Robson.

Iga Swiatek also had the opportunity to meet up with the star. She was all smiles as they clicked pictures together. The Pole, a fan of ‘The Office,’ hinted that she was starstruck by sharing a hilarious Michael Scott meme.

Steve Carell isn’t new to the tennis world. The actor famously portrayed former American tennis player Bobby Riggs in the movie 'Battle of the Sexes,' alongside Emma Stone, who played tennis legend Billie Jean King.

In 2017, Carell told anecdotes about his days on the court, noting that the fake stadium crowd teased him after several unsuccessful serving attempts.

"I served like 20 serves and none of them went in. Finally, someone from the crowd said, ‘C’mon!'" Carell said according to y!entertainment.
"I didn’t realize the pressure of actually playing in front of a thousand people. That’s really scary! I don’t know how any professional athlete does that," he said at the time.

Iga Swiatek also received a sweet message from Taylor Swift ahead of Wimbledon 2024

Steve Carell isn’t Iga Swiatek’s only celebrity encounter in recent weeks. The 23-year-old, a huge fan of Taylor Swift's, also attended the musical icon’s concert in Liverpool on June 13, just days following her French Open win.

While it isn’t known whether the tennis player met Swift in person, she received a handwritten letter from the singer congratulating her on her triumph in Paris. Swiatek was in tears as she shared the news with her fans.

On the tennis front, Iga Swiatek is chasing her sixth Grand Slam title and a first at Wimbledon. The Pole, who has won the French Open four times (2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024) and the US Open once (2022), would hope to complete the Surface Slam at SW19 this time.

She begins her journey against 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin on Tuesday, July 2.
