Maria Sharapova recently spent a family outing at Wimbledon with her fiance Alexander Gilkes and her son Theodore 20 years after her historic triumph at the Major. She also pointed at her name on the winner's board to her son.
Sharapova had an illustrious career in which she completed a career Grand Slam - winning all the Majors at least once, winning the WTA Finals, and becoming the World No. 1. She bid adieu to the sport in 2020, after which she decided to focus on her family and other ventures.
The Russian got into a relationship with British businessman Alexander Gilkes and the two announced their engagement on December 17, 2020, through their social media. Two years later, on July 1, 2022, the couple welcomed their son Theodore.
They had a family outing to Wimbledon 20 years after the 37-year-old's historic win in SW19. Gilkes posted some of their highlights from the trip on Instagram which included a family photo on the Centre Court, an adorable picture of Theodore saluting the ball kids, a video of Carlos Alcaraz's serve in slow motion, and a practice session of the players.
It also had an adorable photo of Maria Sharapova showing her son Theodore her name on the winner's board. Seeded 13th, The former World No. 1 stunned the world when she defeated the reigning champion Serena Williams to win the 2004 Wimbledon at the age of 17.

Maria Sharapova became the fourth youngest woman to ever win a Grand Slam when she clinched Wimbledon in 2004. Aged 17 at the time, the Russian was only behind Martina Hingis, Monica Seles and Tracy Austin.
Sharapova comfortably ousted Yulia Beygelzimer, Anne Keothavang, Daniela Huntuchova, and Amy Frazier in the first four rounds. All of these wins came in straight sets. She came back from a set down to defeat Ai Sugiyama and replicated this feat in the semifinals to see off Lindsay Davenport and reach the final.
The Russian defeated defending champion and top seed Serena Williams 6-1, 6-4 to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish and win her maiden Grand Slam.
Back in 2018, Sharapova called her triumph the biggest surprise in her career, as she was very young to understand the magnitude of what she accomplished
"The biggest surprise in my career was when I won Wimbledon at 17 years old. You don't really recognize the magnitude of the victory at that age. I was so young, and I never felt that I was ready for that type of victory," she told Entrepreneur.
Maria Sharapova went on to win four more Grand Slams, with her last Major coming at the 2014 French Open.
