Maria Sharapova recently treated her fans to some videos from her vacation to the desert in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates after celebrating her birthday last week.
Sharapova retired from professional tennis in 2020 following a bout with a shoulder injury. Since then, the Russian has focused on her family life and business ventures. She does set some time aside from her busy schedule once in a while to tour the world, though.
On April 22 (Monday), Maria Sharapova took to her Instagram stories to post photos and videos from her time on the desert dunes of Abu Dhabi. The 37-year-old's first few snaps were likely from a resort across the beach. She was ecstatic at being in the city, writing in the caption of her first story:
"Woke up in sunny paradise ☀️📍 Abu Dhabi."
A few hours later, Sharapova uploaded a short video of a cameraman documenting her visit to the desert. The former World No. 1 later donned a red patterned shawl and was beaming with happiness as she posed for a photo with the following caption:
"A little bumpy en route, but the destination is a pretty special experience. Middle of the desert. Just you, the car and the desert heat."
The five-time Major winner then sat on an ATV bike in the following story with a safety helmet on, saying to her followers:
"Not sure what's about to happen, but... here wo go!"
Maria Sharapova subsequently rode the quad bike as the sun set behind the sand dunes.
She also took to snowboarding a few minutes later, writing in the caption of her story:
"Screaming on a bunny hill!"
Towards the end of her tour, the 37-year-old playfully ran up a sand dune with great exhilaration. She also posted a rather serene snap of the sunset a few hours later, writing in the caption:
"Earth Day at its very best."
Maria Sharapova turned heads at TV miniseries premiere last month
Maria Sharapova has been turning up her style lately. On March 12, she made an appearance at the premiere of 'Apples Never Fall', Peacock's mystery drama TV miniseries.
During the event, the five-time Major winner donned a black blazer, under which she wore a transparent ensemble of the same color. She posted a photo of her outfit on Instagram, writing:
"Spent Sunday evening glued to the screen watching the incredible Oscar nominee performances and today catching a glimpse of Annette Bening in her latest role for Apple Never Falls 🎥🍿."
