Barbora Krejcikova wins Wimbledon 2024, defeats Jasmine Paolini in the final
Barbora Krejcikova defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 to win this year's edition of Wimbledon. The Italian previously lost the 2024 French Open final against Iga Swiatek and has now lost the final at the Grasscourt Major.
Krejcikova started the match strong, winning the first set in 35 minutes with two breaks of serves. Paolini won the second set in the same manner, in 36 minutes with two breaks of serve.
Both opponents started the third set strong, holding their serves until the Czech broke the Italian in the seventh game. In the tenth game, Paolini had two chances to break back while Krejcikova was serving for the championship. However, the 2021 French Open champion held her nerve to close the match and win the title.
