New mother Anett Kontaveit enjoyed a leisure vacation with her boyfriend Brent Lepistu and their baby boy in Spain.
Kontaveit, a former World No. 2, retired prematurely from tennis in June 2023. Over a year later, the Estonian gave birth to a baby boy named Leon Enzo Lepistu. She divulged the news through social media on September 16, sharing a picture of the then-one-week-old baby. Since embracing motherhood, Kontaveit has often treated fans to memorable moments she shared with her family on social media.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, November 30, Kontaveit shared pictures of her current trip with her "little family" in Ronda, Spain. The Estonian alongside her boyfriend Lepistu posed for a selfie on a mountaintop. She also shared an adorable picture of Lepistu cuddling the baby as both gazed at the scenic beauty. Other photos displayed the variety of food and sceneries they enjoyed in the city.
"A day in Ronda with our little familyyy," Kontaveit captioned her Instagram post.
Anett Kontaveit announced the news of her pregnancy in May 2024, two years after she started dating Brent Lepistu.
Lepistu is an Estonian professional footballer who plays in Premium Liiga, the highest division of Estonian club football, for club FCI Levadia. After representing the national side at the U-21 and U-23 levels, Lepistu made his senior international debut for Estonia in 2014 in a friendly match against Qatar.
Anett Kontaveit retires prematurely due to degenerative back injury
Anett Kontaveit retired from professional tennis at the age of 27 due to a degenerative back injury. The Estonian was diagnosed with a lumbar degenerative disc, a condition that causes pain in the lower back due to damaged discs in the spine.
Kontaveit was ranked No. 79 in the world when she announced her retirement in June 2023. She announced the news after her 2023 French Open first-round exit. The Estonian made her final professional appearance at the Wimbledon Championships. She won her opener against Lucrezia Stefanini before losing to Marie Bouzkova in the second round.
Kontaveit bid farewell to the sport as the most successful player in the country's history. She is the only Estonian to have featured in the WTA Finals. She reached the final of the year-ending event in 2021 but failed to win the title after losing to Garbine Muguruza.
Anett Kontaveit secured six titles in her 13-year-long career. Her best finish across Grand Slam tournaments came at the 2020 Australian Open, where she reached the quarterfinals.
