In Pictures: Novak Djokovic makes special appearance at Qatar GP, graces Charles Leclerc-led Ferrari garage with his visit

With the 2024 tennis season over, Novak Djokovic recently turned his attention to Formula 1. He was spotted at the Qatar Grand Prix, where he visited Ferrari's garage.

The Qatar Grand Prix will take place from November 29 to December 1. Sprint Qualifying, the Sprint Race and Qualifying will be held on Friday and Saturday, while the main race is scheduled for Sunday.

Qatar Airways is a Global Partner and the Official Airline of Formula 1. In 2024, out of the 24 Formula 1 race locations, Qatar Airways served as the Title Partner for four Grands Prix: Azerbaijan, Austria, Qatar and the UK.

On Thursday (Nov. 28), it was announced that Novak Djokovic would become the latest ambassador for Qatar Airways. Just 24 hours later, the Serb began his ambassadorial duties, arriving at the Lusail Circuit in Qatar.

The 37-year-old wore a black-and-white printed sweatshirt with a zip collar, dark trousers, and posed for pictures in the garage with the Charles Leclerc-led Ferrari race car.

The Serb was later spotted conversing with McLaren driver Lando Norris, who battled Max Verstappen all season for the title in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship.

Novak Djokovic to attend Juan Martín del Potro's farewell match in Argentina

After leaving Qatar, Novak Djokovic’s next stop will be Argentina, where he will participate in Juan Martín del Potro's farewell match, scheduled for December 1.

In a video posted on Instagram by Del Potro, he thanked Djokovic for accepting his invitation. He described the match as a farewell and expressed hope of finding peace and happiness on the court, even briefly, after enduring a series of injuries since 2022.

“It’s a match to say goodbye. Djokovic was very generous in accepting my invitation. I want to give him all the love possible. If at least for one, two or three hours I can be in peace and happy on a tennis court, it will be beautiful,” Del Potro said (via Eurosport).

The Argentine added:

“When I played the last match against [Federico] Delbonis, the next day I took a flight to Switzerland and had another knee operation. That was my fifth surgery. From then on, I never made my surgeries public again, because in the press conference prior to my match with Federico I said that it was possibly my last match.”

During his career, Del Potro clinched 22 ATP titles, including the 2009 US Open, and reached a career-high ranking of No. 3. He also won a silver medal in men's singles at the 2016 Rio Olympics and a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics.

While active, Del Potro and Djokovic faced off 20 times, with the former winning four of those encounters.
