Novak Djokovic's wife Jelena went through a rollercoaster of emotions watching the Serb on Centre Court at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships on Sunday, as he battled against a marauding Carlos Alcaraz in the final. On the line for the Serb were an eighth title at SW19 as well as a 25th Grand Slam overall, which would have pushed him past Margaret Court in the all-time Major tally list.
Djokovic started slow in the summit clash, going behind in the first by two breaks and losing the set 2-6. The second set was a repeat of the first, as Alcaraz dominated the 24-time Grand Slam champion to take the set 6-2 once again.
Watching the action unfold from the sidelines was the World No. 2's wife Jelena, who has been beside her husband all fortnight at Wimbledon. Jelena was put through the ringer on Sunday, at times looking concernedly as the former World No. 1 looked a pale shadow of himself on an off night.
Although the Serb got better as the match progressed, he could not stop Alcaraz on the night, losing the third set 7-6(4) in the tiebreaker to hand the 21-year-old his second straight Wimbledon title.
