Novak Djokovic was recently captured welcoming NBA star Russell Westbrook to Wimbledon. Aside from tennis, the Serb is also fond of basketball. He has often shown off his basketball skills on social media, is friends with three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, and was present at the Denver Nuggets' win over the LA Lakers in March.

On Tuesday, the official Instagram account of Wimbledon posted a few pictures featuring the Serb and Westbrook all smiles, exchanging pleasantries, and conversing. The 24-time Grand Slam winner wore a green Lacoste hoodie while Westbrook wore a double-breasted black suit with a black Prada T-shirt underneath.

The photos were taken a day before Djokovic's quarterfinal match with Alex de Minaur, which the Australian had to withdraw from due to a hip injury he sustained against Arthur Fils in the fourth round.

This isn't the first time the 24-time Grand Slam winner and Westbrook have met; in 2015, they appeared together on an episode of “Live with Kelly and Michael” as guests.

Following Alex de Minaur's withdrawal from the quarterfinal, Novak Djokovic will now face the winner between Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz in the semifinal of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

The Serb's appearance at Wimbledon marks his participation in seven ATP tournaments this season. The World No. 2 has yet to win a title this season; however, this is the fourth time he has reached a semifinal.

In the 2023 edition, the Serb reached the final by defeating Pedro Cachín, Jordan Thompson, Stan Wawrinka, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, and Jannik Sinner. However, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the title clash.

Without further ado, let's take a look at Djokovic's potential semifinal opponents, Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz.

Musetti came into the 2024 Wimbledon Championships in good form. He reached the final of the Cinch Championships before being defeated by Tommy Paul. This season, the World No. 2 and Musetti have faced off twice: first at the Monte-Carlo Masters in the fourth round, where the Serb emerged victorious, and then at the French Open, where Djokovic won their third-round clash after a five-set thriller. Their head-to-head record currently stands at 5-1 in favor of the Serb.

Taylor Fritz, on the other hand, has won two trophies this season: the Delray Beach Open and the Rothesay International. Djokovic and Fritz's last two meetings have been in the quarterfinals of Grand Slams, the 2023 US Open, and the 2024 Australian Open, with the 37-year-old coming out victorious on both occasions. Fritz has never beaten Djokovic on the ATP tour, with their head-to-head standing at 9-0 in favour of the Serb.
