Paula Badosa and her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, recently gave fans a glimpse of their romance in New York. The couple, who were in the city for the US Open, also took time to enjoy dinner dates, ice cream, and more.
Tsitsipas was knocked out in the first round of the tournament by Thanasi Kokkinakis, continuing his poor form at the US Open, where he has never advanced beyond the third round.
Having reached the quarterfinals of the French Open in 2021, Badosa made it to the quarterfinals of a Major for the second time in her career at this edition of the US Open. She defeated Viktorija Golubic, Taylor Townsend, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, and Wang Yafan before being eliminated by Emma Navarro.
On Wednesday, Tsitsipas posted a few videos and pictures from their time in New York. Some of the videos he shared included shots capturing the landscape around the Statue of Liberty, a humorous video of him introducing Badosa, and pictures of an ash-colored Aston Martin, along with a few other photos.
“From urban jungle to tennis courts” - Tsitsipas captioned the post
In the comments section, Badosa wrote, "Love you," to which Tsitsipas hilariously replied:
“I love me too! We have so much in common”
Badosa, who has been in fine form this year, entered the tournament ranked No. 29. She is expected to return to the top 20 when the rankings are updated after the tournament.
Badosa also wittily commented that she is "already in the top 20," adding a squinting face with a tongue emoji.
“By the way, I am top 20 now,” she wrote.
Stefanos Tsitsipas on his relationship with Paula Badosa - “When I leave the tennis court I know that there's a big warm hug waiting for me”
In a recent interview posted on the US Open's YouTube channel, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa shared what they mean to each other both on and off the court. Tsitsipas said:
“She has brought a lot of blessings into my life and I am proud that I can call her my girlfriend and my life partner... We have learnt a lot from each other, we have learnt how to fight, how to accept difficult situations, and try and grow through them. [0.22 onwards]
"There's always a shoulder that I can lean on and discuss things over but also be vulnerable and open about anything that is scary deep inside of me. When I leave the tennis court I know that there's a big warm hug waiting for me." [1:22 onwards]
Tsitsipas and Badosa recently teamed up in the mixed doubles category at the 2024 US Open. They were knocked out in the first round by the Mexican duo of Giuliana Olmos and Santiago González.
