Felix Auger-Aliassime has been in Mallorca since Tuesday to resume his training sessions under Rafael Nadal’s uncle, Toni. The 22-year-old was welcomed to the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca by Rafael’s sister Maria Isabel via her social media account.

Auger-Aliassime shares a close bond with the entire Nadal family, including 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal. The same was highlighted when the Rafa Nadal Academy shared pictures of the Canadian receiving a guided tour of the Rafa Nadal Museum at the academy with Nadal himself.

@felixaliassime 👋🏼 We hope you enjoyed the visit to the @rafanadalmuseum! ☺️VAMOS‼️” read the post.

The Rafa Nadal Academy also posted a series of pictures showing the Canadian youngster training in the gym.

Auger-Aliassime has had a poor start to the 2023 season with a shock first-round exit at the Adelaide International 1 to 120-ranked Australian Alexei Popyrin in straight sets. The result led to the Canadian dropping one place in the ATP rankings from No. 6 to No. 7.

He then headed to the Australian Open, where he impressed in the first three rounds. However, World No. 71 Jiri Lehecka managed to oust the World No. 7 in four sets in the fourth round.

The 2021 US Open semifinalist posted a video of him training hard at the Academy under the guidance of Toni and his team.

“Getting in some good work with the team this week,” he captioned the reel.

The young Canadian will next head to the ABN AMRO Open 2023 in Rotterdam, where he is the defending champion. The ATP 500 tournament will feature names like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and Daniil Medvedev as well. The indoor hard court tournament begins on February 13, 2023, and the draws will be made on February 10, 2023.

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s coach predicted the winners for the Grand Slams of 2023, including Nadal for Roland Garros, Auger Aliassime for Wimbledon, and Djokovic for the US Open.

In an interview with Ubitennis about his 22-year-old charge, Fontang touched upon the Grand Slam winners for the 2023 season. His prediction for the Australian Open was Djokovic, which has already come true. He also picked Djokovic for the second hard-court Major of the season, with Daniil Medvedev being his second option.

When it came to clay, he said Nadal remains the favorite despite battling injury and not being in the best form since the start of 2023.

"I think Rafa, although many say he could retire, won 2 Grand Slams last year and finished the season as No. 2 of the world. In my opinion, Rafa remains the favorite for Roland Garros despite everything," he said.

For Wimbledon, however, he was confident that Auger-Aliassime, whom he coaches, could clinch his maiden Major title. He believes that the World No. 7 has ‘all the weapons’ and a ‘big serve’ to do well at the 2023 Championships.

"In my opinion, the discussion on Wimbledon is more open. Felix has already made the quarterfinals there, has a great serve, and has all the weapons to do well. And therefore, my prediction is Felix winner at Church Road." he added.
