Serena Williams, her husband Alexis Ohanian, daughter Olympia, mother Oracene, and sisters: Venus, Lyndrea and Isha got together for a rare family trip to Disneyland. The tennis legend shared heartwarming photos from their outing.
After retiring from the sport in 2022, Williams dedicated herself to spending more time with her family. She focused on cherishing precious moments with her two daughters, Olympia and Adira, and her husband, Ohanian.
On December 9, the 23-time Grand Slam champion joined her mother, her sisters along with her husband, and her elder daughter for a trip to Disneyland. This world-famous theme park, inspired by Disney movies and characters, is mainly curated for children.
Serena Williams shared a carousel of pictures on Instagram from their trip and said there is nothing more enjoyable than a quick family outing.
She wrote:
"There’s nothing like a quick family trip to @disneyparks. There no place like Disney 😊 @ladyisha01 @lyndrea_imani @venuswilliams @alexisohanian @olympiaohanian."
"We wouldn't have survived" - Serena Williams credits mother Oracene for major contribution in her and sister Venus' lives
Serena Williams credited her mother, Oracene Price, for the essential contribution to her and her sister Venus’ success. She reflected on how her mother became the backbone of their family during the early stages of their tennis careers.
On a 2021 episode of PEOPLE's Red Table Talk featuring Will Smith, the Williams sisters discussed their mother’s role in their lives. Smith portrayed their father, Richard, who served as their childhood coach, in the movie King Richard.
Serena started by telling Smith how their father abruptly quit his job to fully dedicate himself to coaching the sisters:
"My dad at one point was working and then, he stopped," she said. "He's like, 'This is what we're going to do. I'm not going to have a job. I'm gonna go with Venus and Serena, and train them every day.'”
The 23-time Major champion later touched on how Oracene managed to support a family of seven. She added that without their mother’s faith, neither she nor Venus would have achieved the heights they have today.
"But she had to support seven people, as a family of seven. To have that faith and to have that back end support, we wouldn't have survived without that," Serena Williams said.
While Serena has bid farewell to tennis, her sister Venus hasn’t considered retiring yet and remains inactive on the WTA Tour at the moment.
