Taylor Townsend offered glimpses of her Bahamanian vacation in a swim cover-up top. The former World No. 46 came fresh off her doubles stint with Kateřina Siniaková at the 2024 WTA Finals, losing to Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe in the finals, after an early exit from the US Open.
Days later, the 28-year-old took a trip to the Bahamas, enjoying her off-season in a swim cover-up top and an animal-printed bikini, as posted on her Instagram.
Townsend's story also featured her friends relaxing on wooden loungers, while she showed around the picturesque beach.
Townsend often updates her fans on social media. In another recent Instagram post, she offered a peek into her Friday, donning a black-and-white outfit and posing on stone stairs and a parapet.
"Feel Yourself Friday'✨🤌🏾🌳," her post caption read.
Townsend kicked off her year with a doubles win alongside Beatriz Haddad Maia at the Adelaide International, beating Kristina Mladenovic and Caroline Garcia in the finals. She continued her momentum at the Wimbledon Championships, defeating Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski alongside partner Kateřina Siniaková.
Having entered the Canadian Open as a lucky loser, Taylor Townsend outpaced Dayana Yastremska by retirement, local wildcard Marina Stakusic, and fourth seed Jeļena Ostapenko in back-to-back rounds to reach the quarterfinals. She became the first lucky loser to reach that stage in the WTA 1000 quarterfinals since 2009 (format introduction).
Taylor Townsend juggles training sessions with mother duties
Taylor Townsend announced her pregnancy in October 2020 and welcomed her son Adyn Aubrey Johnson on March 14, 2021. She returned from her maternity leave in April 2022, winning her first title at the W100 Charleston event. Cut to 2024, the 28-year-old juggles tennis training and spending quality time with her son, Adyn.
In her Instagram story from December 3, Townsend posted a video of her son enjoying his meal in what looked like a study room.
"Between fitness sessions, we mom hard," she captioned.
In an interview with WTA, Townsend defined motherhood as gritty, highlighting the challenges of being a parent.
"Understanding how to maneuver in this world as your child grows evolves and they become their own person, you have to manage that. Being a mother it's not pretty, it takes grit. You are constantly having to put someone else before you. I feel like grit is such a perfect word, mothers embody grit by just existing. It's a very difficult life but honestly it's not one that I would change," she said.
Taylor Townsend reached No. 5 in the doubles ranking and has two doubles finals appearances at the 2023 French Open and the 2022 US Open in her repertoire.
