Koolhof, the two-time Grand Slam champion, started dating former German player Goerges in 2021, a year after the latter retired from professional tennis. The couple often attends off-court events and offers sneak peeks into their personal life. Goerges, the former World No. 9, was even a frequent visitor at Koolhof's tennis tournaments till he last played in November.
On December 14, 2024, the former players tied the knot in a dreamy setting, as evident in a picture carousel posted by the Dutch. The first picture featured them sharing a kiss in an open space at the Groot Warnsborn estate in the Netherlands. The next picture captured an adorable moment, followed by the ring exchange ceremony at the altar.
"Mr & Mrs - 14.12.2024," read the caption.
The two-time Grand Slam champion also posted a story of the couple walking down the stairs holding hands.
Julia Goerges, who won seven singles and five doubles titles, got to experience the prospect of her life away from the spotlight during the tour break amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"If you have stayed away from the tour for five to six months, it just opens up a whole different new chapter. I knew that at some point it’s also nice to step away and not be in the spotlight all the time. I’d rather be at home, staying in pajamas every day and no one sees me," she shared, via Tennis.com.
Following her second-round exit from the 2020 French Open, Koolhof's now-fiancee's rank dropped to 45, leading to her immediate retirement.
