Martina Navratilova recently slammed a commentator for praising reported transgender athlete Blaire Fleming's skills during an NCAA women's volleyball game. The American has expressed her disdain at Fleming's participation in the San Jose State women's volleyball team.
Navratilova has been against the participation of biological men in women's competitions and also has gone as far as to say that women's sports weren't a place for "failed male athletes".
Fleming, a reported transgender athlete competing for the San Jose State women's volleyball team, was being praised by the commentator during a match and was called the most impressive athlete.
"Might be the most impressive athlete on the floor tonight. Her vertical is in this match unmatched," the reporter lavished praise.
However, Martina Navratilova took to X and said:
"Such irresponsible reporting. Yeah, I wonder why the vertical is so much higher than the other players!!!!! Duh…"
The 67-year-old had earlier commented on Fleming's participation, saying:
"Not just unfair but dangerous and not sustainable. At this rate so many women athletes will be erased."
"This is all on NCAA" - Martina Navratilova blames the NCAA for letting Blaire Fleming compete for the San Jose State women's volleyball team
Martina Navratilova slammed the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) after a video of Blaire Fleming spiking the ball at the face of another competitor surfaced online. Resharing the video on X, Navratilova said:
"This is all on NCAA- Biden has not helped on this issue nor did he do this- this is NCAA and no one else. And it stinks. How many women need to get hurt by male power before you change the rules based on sex @NCAA???"
Navratilova has clarified her stance on the participation of transgender athletes in womens' sport and made it clear that she is not against them. Having said that, she didn't want "biological males" to compete in the women's division so that the women could compete on a level playing field.
