Carlos Alcaraz will compete in the 2024 US Open as per the official US Open men's singles main draw entry list. After upsets at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the Cincinnati Open, he is set to clash in the final Grand Slam of the year.

Alcaraz, the World No. 3, faced Novak Djokovic in the gold medal match at the Olympic Games. In a scintillating men's singles final, the Serb defeated Alcaraz 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) and achieved a Career Golden Slam, avenging his loss to the youngster at Wimbledon.

After the upset, Alcaraz faced Frenchman Gael Monfils at the 2024 Cincinnati Open. Securing the first set, he failed to recover while Monfils pushed to a tie-break in the second, leading 3-1 and finally taking the win 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4. The Spaniard had difficulty accepting the loss and even smashed his racket until the frame lost shape. He apologized for his behavior later in an Instagram post.

"I want to apologize for my attitude yesterday, it was not good and that should not happen on court. I’m human, the nerves had accumulated and sometimes it’s very tough to control when there is that tension. I will work so that it doesn’t happen again. Now it’s time to think about NYC!" Carlos Alcaraz said.

The latter part of his statement confirmed Carlos Alcaraz's intention of appearing at the final Grand Slam of the year, the 2024 US Open, before the release of the main draw list secured his entry. The 21-year-old first lifted the US Open title in 2022, his first major singles title win, which made him the youngest man and the first male teenager to achieve the top singles ranking in the Open Era at 19 years old.

After the 2024 Wimbledon Championships and the Paris Olympics, Carlos Alcaraz will team up with the USA's former player, Andre Agassi and clash against Novak Djokovic and American former tennis star, John McEnroe for a charity event, Stars of the Open. The event is slated for August 21, 2024.

Djokovic's gold medal made him the fifth player to complete a Career Golden Slam (winning an Olympic gold medal and all four Grand Slam tournaments) after Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams. He became the oldest man to win the Olympic gold at 37 since tennis returned to the Games in 1988.
