Several fans disagreed with Alexander Zverev's claim of serving better than Jannik Sinner in the 2025 Australian Open final. The Italian made history at Melbourne Park on Sunday, January 26, by securing his third Grand Slam title.

Sinner asserted control early, taking the first set 6-3 and edging out a tightly contested second set 7-6(4). He maintained his momentum in the third set, sealing it 6-3. The 23-year-old displayed exceptional resilience during the two-hour, 42-minute match, not facing a single break point.

Alexander Zverev came close to taking the second set on two occasions, which could have altered the course of the match. Speaking to the media afterward, the World No. 2 said that while he served better than Sinner, the Italian outshone him in every other aspect.

"In general, Jannik is better than me at the moment. It’s as simple as that.I think I served better than Jannik, and everything else he does better. So at the end of the day he deserves to win. He’s the best player on hard courts right now. It’s as simple as that," he said (via The Tennis Gazette).

Several fans, however, disagreed with the German's claims, with one pointing out that he failed to break Sinner even once during the match.

"Is there a more delusional tennis player!? 😂 How does he serve better than Sinner when he was broken multiple times and didn’t even create a single break point on Sinner’s serve?" They asked.
“I serve better than him. He literally faced 0 breaks points in a Grand Slam final," another wrote.
"Jannik is serving better too," one commented.

Here are a few more reactions from the fans, with some criticizing Zverev's mindset:

"If he went into this match with this mindset, it's no weird he lost to Jannik so easily," a fan said.
"He has such an awful mindset. The greats become great by think they are the greatest even when they aren’t," they wrote.
"this mentality is why he hasn’t won a major yet," a fan chimed in.

After defeating Zverev on Sunday, Jannik Sinner also made history as he became the first Italian to claim three Grand Slam titles, following his victories at the Australian Open and US Open last year.

Jannik Sinner reduced his head-to-head deficit against Alexander Zverev with his Australian Open victory, though the German still holds the overall lead, 4-3. Additionally, the victory at Rod Laver Arena marked Sinner's second consecutive win over Zverev, following their semifinal clash at the 2024 Cincinnati Masters.

Prior to that, the World No. 2 had defeated Sinner in the fourth round of the 2023 US Open.

In addition to setting numerous other records with his triumph in Melbourne, Sinner became the fifth man in the Open Era to win three consecutive hard-court Majors, joining legends such as Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, and Roger Federer.
