Daria Saville, who suffers from ADHD, went through a difficult time during her Wimbledon 2023 first-round match against Katie Boulter. It was marred by protesters throwing confetti on the ground and the Aussie even faced ill-treatment from fans.

On July 4, 2023, Saville returned to tour to face Boulter at Wimbledon after eight months out due to a serious ankle injury. The Aussie led 4-2 in the first set tiebreak before a protester, a Just Stop Oil group member, ran onto the court and threw orange confetti and puzzle pieces on it.

Boulter and Saville helped the ball boys and girls clear the court before resuming play. However, as an ADHD patient, Saville's concentration was disrupted enough for her to lose the next five points and, in turn, the set. Boulter won the next set as well and bagged the first-round win.

“I’ve always struggled with concentration, so it is probably the toughest circumstances I have had to deal with,” Saville after her disappointing loss, according to Fox Sports Australia.
"It was, ‘Oh my god, why on my court?’. I am the worst at being able to focus.”

Saville also opened up about the fans behind her making 'fart noises'.

“There were four guys at the back making farting noises that were really distracting. Farting noises, quietly going ‘pftt’” she said.

She mentioned that due to her ADHD, the fans' actions drove her nuts.

“It really annoyed me and I have ADHD, so ... it drove me nuts,” Saville said.

Throughout her career, Daria Saville has suffered multiple injuries and undergone multiple surgeries. However, the former top-20 player has continued to make an impact on the Tour.

Saville has been busy this year trying to get any form of consistency in her game. She reached the semifinal in Hobart in January and the quarterfinal in San Diego in March.

When it comes to the Grand Slams, however, Saville faced first-round exits at both the Australian Open and the French Open.

The World No. 82 has not lost hope and believes she can achieve a top-20 ranking again.

“I truly believe I can be a top 20 player again. It may be delusional, it may be not, but I think I can have a chance at winning a grand slam,” she said, according to Fox Sports Australia.

Daria Saville would be hoping to turn her fortunes around when she faces American player Peyton Stearns in the first round at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
