Novak Djokovic continued his strong run at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a win over Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal on Thursday, August 1. However, the Serb feared his knee's condition after the match. He said he felt a pain similar to what he felt at the French Open, leaving fans worried about him.

Djokovic injured his right knee after the five-set fourth-round win over Francisco Cerundolo at the French Open. He had to withdraw from the Grand Slam before his quarterfinal and undergo surgery. The Serb recovered in time to appear at Wimbledon and make an impressive run to the final.

At the Olympics back in Paris, Djokovic has been dominant. He has won all his matches in straight sets including the quarterfinal match against Tsitsipas. The Serb was down 2-5 in the second set but forced a tiebreaker and won 6-3, 7-6(3).

However, the Serb was checked on by a physio twice during that set. There was an issue with his right knee again. After the match, during the on-court interview, Djokovic revealed:

"I am very worried (about my knee). I felt huge sharp pain, it felt very similar to 4th round of Roland Garros"

His comments were posted on Reddit and fans opined on his condition.

Yeah I was sure something strange was going on. He didn't really celebrate his win and acted weirdly... I really hope it's not similar to RG, one fan wrote.

"When Federer injured his knee in 2016 he took 6 months off to recover, and it gave him three more years. If Djokovic continues playing he will end his career," a third fan wrote.

Here are some more fan reactions to Djokovic's injury scare.

"If he reinjures the knee he will have to shut himself down for the rest of the season I would imagine. He looked like someone who had hard decisions awaiting him after the match," wrote one fan.
"Absolutely gutted. He looked terrified in that post match interview..." another fan wrote.
"Seems like he wanted Tsitsipas to put him out of his misery but Stef being Stef just didn’t want to," wrote yet another.

Novak Djokovic will take on Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in the 2024 Paris Olympics semifinal on Friday, August 2. Following his injury scare in the quarterfinal, the Serb claimed he had time to recover but even if he is advised against playing the Italian, he will take to the courts for Serbia.

“I think even if [the medical staff] says that it’s not okay, I’ll probably get on the court and give it a try," Djokovic said.
"These are very rare chances to fight for a medal for my country. So I’m going to do everything possible in the next — less than 24 hours to put myself in a position to fight for Serbia.”

The 37-year-old's best result at the Olympics is a bronze medal finish. He last reached the semifinal in 2008 and lost to Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic has historically been dominant against Musetti. He has won six of his seven meetings against the Italian, with the latest coming less than a month ago in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
