Jannik Sinner and girlfriend Anna Kalinskaya have been spotted having a relaxing and fun-filled vacation in Costa Smeralda, a popular tourist destination in Sardinia, Italy. The couple decided to take some time off from the hectic tennis schedule and enjoy the sun, sea, and sand.
Sinner and Kalinskaya's vacation comes after a grueling Wimbledon 2024 campaign, where the Italian reached the quarterfinals but lost 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 to Daniil Medvedev. Kalinskaya, on the other hand, had to withdraw from her fourth-round match against Elena Rybakina due to a wrist injury.
With Sinner forfeiting his scheduled Nordea Open participation to rest and train for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, and Kalinskaya turning down her invitation to compete as a neutral athlete at the same event, the couple has found the perfect opportunity to unwind and reconnect.
The couple’s vacation was captured by the Italian weekly magazine Chi, which published the exclusive photos on July 17. The pair were spotted swimming in the sea, playing with the water, and laughing together between dives.
Jannik Sinner confirmed their romance at the 2024 French Open, where they were seen practicing and watching each other’s matches.
"I'm with Anna [Kalinskaya], yes, but we keep everything very confidential, you know my confidentiality... I won't say more," Sinner said in a post match press conference.
Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya's 2024 Wimbledon campaign in detail
Top seed Jannik Sinner had a strong start to the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, dropping only two sets in his first four matches.
Sinner defeated Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the first round and then faced a tougher challenge from compatriot Matteo Berrettini in the second round, winning 7-6(3), 7-6(4), 2-6, 7-6(4). In the third round, the Italian cruised past Miomir Kecmanovic 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 and then beat American Ben Shelton 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(9) in the Round of 16.
In the quarterfinals, Sinner faced Medvedev, who had lost to the former in their last five meetings, all on hard courts. The Italian was aiming to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the second time in his career, but he fell short in a 6-7(7), 6-4, 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 defeat. Medvedev went on to reach the semifinals, where he lost 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to the eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz.
Anna Kalinskaya, on the other hand, was seeded 17th at the Grasscourt Slam and reached the Round of 16 for the first time in her career, that too without dropping a set in her three matches.
Kalinskaya’s Wimbledon campaign started with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 win over Hungarian qualifier Panna Udvardy in the first round. She then prevailed over Czech Marie Bouzkova 6-4, 6-1 in the second round.
In the third round, Kalinskaya beat compatriot and 15th seed Liudmila Samsonova 7-6(4), 6-2, despite a rain interruption. Kalinskaya’s biggest challenge came in the fourth round, where she met the 2022 champion Elena Rybakina. The Russian lost the first set 6-3 and was trailing 3-0 in the second set when she was forced to retire due to a wrist injury.
