Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berrettini, Jasmine Paolini, and Sara Errani, heroes from the Italian teams that clinched a prestigious 'double' at the Davis Cup and Billie Jean Cup team championships year, were among those honored in a glitzy gala at the 2024 SuperTennis Awards in Milan on December 4.

Posting pictures from the ceremony, the official Instagram handle of the Davis Cup wrote, "Italy’s golden generation adding more hardware to their collection."

The SuperTennis Awards celebrate the best Italian players of the just-concluded season. At this year's star-studded ceremony, Sinner, Berretini, and Lozenzo Sonego were seen engaging in some light-hearted banter backstage.

Paolini, on her social media stories, shared a short video clip where she, along with Jannik Sinner, Matteo Berretini, and Sara Errani, could be seen huddling around the host while posing for a picture.

Italian tennis had a stellar year in 2024, with both the men and women combining to scoop up an impressive 25 titles.

Italy defeated the Netherlands 2-0 in the final of the Davis Cup to win its second title on the trot (and third overall), cementing its position as a major modern tennis powerhouse. While Barrettini beat Botic Van de Zandschulp in two straightforward sets, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner dispatched Tallon Griekspoor without much fuss.

Sinner, with two Grand Slams among his eight titles and a 73–6 (92.4%) record through the year, had his most memorable season in 2024. He also secured the year-end No. 1 ranking for the first time in his career.

Notably, Berrettini, who missed much of 2023 with injuries, made a steady surge up the rankings this season, propelled by back-to-back triumphs at the Swiss Open in Gstaad and the 2024 Generali Open in Kitzbuhel, Austria. He again peaked in the Davis Cup, combining with Sinner to lead the Italian men to victory.

The Italian women, on the other hand, clinched a fifth Billie Jean King Cup for the country. The European nation had claimed the title in 2006, 2009, 2010, and most recently in 2013.

In the final against surprise-finalist Slovakia, Paolini and Lucia Bronzetti notched straight-set victories over their rivals Viktoria Hruncakova and Rebecca Sramkova. World No. 4 Paolini is arguably the breakout star on the WTA circuit this year, having reached the final of both the French Open and Wimbledon. Paolini also teamed up with Errani to clinch the women's doubles gold at the Paris Olympics in August.
