Day 2 of the Japan Open 2024 features a packed schedule with some of the sport's biggest names looking to wrap up their first-round matches. Ben Shelton will commence his title defense against fellow American Reilly Opelka, who's on the comeback trail.
Marin Cilic became the lowest-ranked player in history to win a title when he accomplished the feat at the Hangzhou Open earlier this week. It also marked his first title in over three years. He will aim to continue his winning ways against his old rival and home favorite Kei Nishikori in his opener.
Top seed Taylor Fritz will go up against French youngster Arthur Fils. Fellow Americans Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, and Alex Michelsen will also take to the court on Thursday. Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Felix Auger-Aliassime are some of the other big names in the mix.
