Jessica Pegula extended her support for her father, Terry Bills' NFL team, the Buffalo Bills, ahead of the playoffs. The American tennis player is gearing up to compete at the Australian Open, which commenced on January 12.
The NFL playoffs have started, and Pegula's father's team, the Buffalo Bills will be face the Denver Broncos on January 12 in the wild card round. The World No. 7 has showcased her support for the team, sharing a post about the match on her Instagram story and adding the caption:

Jessica Pegula previously compared NFL matches to Grand Slam and said that she will be watching the second half of the match. Showcasing optimism about the team's performance, the player hoped for their win in an interview with The South African.
“I think it’s on, what, like 05:00 here time? Probably won’t be up that early. Maybe catch, like, the second half of it," said Jessica Pegula. “Yes, obviously I think they have a great chance to win this game. I don’t know, just makes me nervous. It’s kind of like a slam. You never really know what’s going to happen. Playoffs start, you have the favourites, but you never know what’s going to happen. I hope they win. I hope they can come out very healthy.”
The 30-year-old started her 2025 season by competing at the Adelaide International, where she reached the finals but fell short of winning the title as she was bested by Madison Keys, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. She will next be seen competing at the Australian Open on August 13 against Maya Joint.
Jessica Pegula opened up about her inspiration for the Australian Open
Ahead of the Adelaide International, Jessica Pegula spoke about the 2024 US Open campaign being her inspiration for the Australian Open. She reached the finals of the US Open and competed with Aryna Sabalenka; however, she couldn't bag the title as her opponent dominated the match and won the title, 7-5, 7-5. Taking this performance as her inspiration for her upcoming tournament, she said: (as quoted by the Sports Star)
“It’s funny how it feels like so long ago, but also feels like last week at the same time," said Pegula. "Tennis is weird like that. It’s definitely a motivation for me to want to do well this year and keep going for my goals and everything that I’ve set out for myself this year. It’s still a nice, fresh memory I feel like in my mind. Hopefully it stays that way I think to keep the motivation going.”
She added:
“The tournament here, the draw is really, really tough, so I think it will be good to test how my body’s feeling. Excited to definitely play some matches before going into Australian Open.”
Jessica Pegula will face Maya Joint in the first round of the Australian Open, with the winner taking on either Elise Mertens or Viktorija Golubic in the second round.
