Stefanos Tsitsipas was recently full of praise for Jim Courier's "impressive and inspiring" commentary. However, the Greek apparently plagiarized the words from a Twitter user and analyst named Vansh.
Vansh had earlier shared his admiration for Courier, praising the American for doing the necessary research before matches and noting how the four-time Major champion breaks information down intelligently.
Reframing the analyst's observations, Tsitsipas took to social media to compliment Courier's commentary, writing:
"Jim Courier's tennis commentary is a pleasure to listen to. His impressive combination of understanding, analysis, empathy, and humility is always backed by thorough preparation. He breaks down the game in a way that's both impressive and inspiring."
Tsitsipas has attracted plenty of criticism from fans on social media for his 'unauthentic' words. Now, even his fellow competitors seem to be getting in on the act, with John Millman taking a dig at the World No. 3.
Millman tweeted his appreciation for Courier by humorously rephrasing Tsitspas' words.
"Jim Courier is a pleasure to listen to in the commentary box. It’s an impressive skill to be knowledgeable, analytical, critical but at the same time delivering the message in an empathetic way. He’s able to break down the game impressively because of his meticulous preparation!" Millman's tweet read.
How Stefanos Tsitsipas has fared since 2023 Australian Open
Stefanos Tsitsipas started the season on a bright note by reaching the final of the Australian Open before losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets. However, things have gone south for the 24-year-old since then.
Tsitsipas traveled from Melbourne to Rotterdam to take part in the ABN Amro Open. He began with a straight-sets win (7-5, 6-1) over Emil Ruusuvuori but fell to Jannik Sinner (6-4, 6-3) in the Round of 16.
At the Indian Wells Masters, the Greek was stunned by World No. 83 Jordan Thompson (7-6(0), 4-6, 7-6(5)) in an engrossing second-round encounter.
In defense of Stefanos Tsitsipas, he has been struggling with a shoulder injury he picked up after the Australian Open. The Greek has admitted that he might not be able to go very far at the upcoming Miami Masters but is hoping to be fully fit heading into the clay season.
