Most fans expressed shock at Emma Raducanu's fourth-round elimination from Wimbledon 2024. The World No. 132 lost to the Kiwi qualifier Lulu Sun 2-6, 7-5, 2-6, just a day after withdrawing from the mixed doubles draw.
Raducanu was previously set to team up with Andy Murray for her mixed doubles match against Marcelo Arevalo and Zhang Shuai. The 21-year-old, who underwent wrist surgery last year cited a "wrist stiffness" as a reason for withdrawal. She also criticized the late-night scheduling of her mixed doubles contest calling it "not ideal."
Following this, Andy Murray's mother Judy, expressed surprise at the decision, calling it "astonishing", which many believed was a cloaked criticism.

Here are a few more reactions from the fans:
"At least Emma is still in the mixed doubles...oh wait, never mind," a fan commented.
Meanwhile, a fan expressed disappointment over the Brit's elimination, noting that she missed an opportunity to advance further in the tournament with many top competitors already out.
"A missed opportunity for Emma. With most of the favourites already out, she could have been looking at a good run at SW19," they wrote
"Hope emma wont get shitty comments about this loss cuz she really couldn't do more, lulu played some astonishing tennis," a fan heaped praise at Lulu Sun.
This marked Raducanu's first time reaching the second week of a Grand Slam since her 2021 US Open title run.
Judy Murray defended herself following her comments on Emma Raducanu's mixed doubles withdrawal
Judy Murray's reaction to Emma Raducanu's last-minute withdrawal didn't sit well with fans online, who criticized the 64-year-old while supporting the latter's decision.
Judy later defended her comments on X, describing her reaction as "sarcasm" and acknowledging that the scheduling played a major role in the Brit's withdrawal.
"Not sure anyone understands sarcasm these days. Pretty sure the scheduling (4th match court 1 with a singles following day) will have played a major part in any decision making," she wrote.
The 21-year-old had a respectable grass-court season, reaching the semifinals of the Nottingham Open and the quarterfinals of the Rothesay International in Eastbourne. Following her Wimbledon exit, Raducanu is set to miss the Paris Olympics 2024 after recently declining the call-up to join the Great Britain squad.
