Katie Boulter had the full support of her fiance, Alex de Minaur, as she secured a thrilling first-round victory at the Australian Open. Both Boulter and De Minaur are competing in the tournament, which runs from January 12 to January 26.

The Australian and the Brit began dating in March 2020, making their relationship public a year later with an anniversary post on social media. On December 23, 2024, the couple got engaged, with Boulter sharing the happy news in an Instagram post.

Alex de Minaur kicked off his 2025 Australian Open campaign in style on Tuesday, January 14, with a strong performance against Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp. Playing at the iconic Rod Laver Arena, the home favorite defeated his opponent 6-1, 7-5, 6-4.

Minaur hurried to Kia Arena to cheer on his fiance in her first match in Melbourne this year, just under an hour after wrapping up his own victory at Rod Laver Arena.

Katie Boulter faced Canadian Rebecca Marico in the first round of the Australian Open 2025. The Brit emerged victorious with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

After announcing her engagement with Alex de Minaur last year, Katie Boulter shared that she received a warm welcome from Australian fans as the couple returned to De Minaur’s home turf for the Australian Open. She expressed how the support from the crowd has significantly boosted her confidence.

“I feel like I've already felt the love so much more here, just more than last year,” she said. “Being in Sydney, which is obviously his hometown, where he was born, it was probably my first proper time playing tennis there. Just walking out onto the court and hearing the crowd for me really did help me.

The 28-year-old shared that she felt completely at ease and at "home" thanks to the warm treatment from the fans.

“I felt very much at home and comfortable. Normally I'm actually the kind of person that dislikes going to new places, playing on a court for the first time. I actually felt very comfortable from the word 'go' when I was there. I think that was completely because of them and how they've been treating me. it makes a world of difference,” she said.

The Brit has shown as much love for her boyfriend’s country as she does for her own. Speaking about Australia, she shared:

“I just love the culture (in Australia). I really enjoy coming here every single year. I have done as a junior as well. Obviously being around someone like Alex, such a hard worker. He loves his country, lives and dies by his Davis Cup number. I think that's definitely rubbed off on me. Like I am for my own country, I take great pride in playing for my country. It's been a fun ride. I love coming to Australia. It's just a great place.”

Alex de Minaur will take on USA’s Tristan Boyer on Thursday, January 16 in the second round of the Australian Open while Katie Boulter will lock horns with Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova on the same day.
