Katie Boulter is enjoying her recent engagement to Álex de Miñaur. The WTA player recently left a comment on a social media post by her fiancée. The playful banter between the two athletes is palpable after they announced last month that they will get married.
Both Boulter and De Miñaur are looking to gain momentum in their campaigns at this year's Australian Open. The first Grand Slam of the season will offer both players the opportunity to become a part of history. The couple could enjoy Grand Slam victories while celebrating their engagement if they manage to survive in the tournament.
Commenting in response to De Minaur's social media post, Boulter wrote:
"Stop trying to thirst trap. You have a fiancée"
The post by Álex de Miñaur was simply a picture of the player hitting a tennis ball. In response to her fiancée looking good on court, Katie Boulter teasingly asked him to stop thirst-trapping since they are about to get married. Thirst-trapping refers to a social media post that is intended to attract sexual interest.
Boulter and de Miñaur at the Australian Open
Katie Boulter is looking to win her first Grand Slam title at this year's edition of the Australian Open. The Brit has only reached as far as the second round of the event in previous years and would be hoping to go further in 2025.
Boulter will face Rebecca Marino in the first round of the Australian Open. They have faced each other a couple of times over the past two years, with Boulter winning both encounters. These matches took place at the 2023 Omnium Banque Nationale event in Montreal and last year's edition of the Rothesay Open in Nottingham.
Alex de Miñaur is also looking to win his first Grand Slam title during this year's edition of the Australian Open. He has reached the fourth round in his last three appearances at the event. With the momentum he has carried in Melbourne, it wouldn't be surprising if de Miñaur made it to the quarterfinals this time around. He will face Botic van de Zandschulp in his first-round match on Tuesday (Jan. 14).
