Nick Kyrgios revisited his prediction about the Boston Celtics winning the 2024 NBA Championships after the recently concluded NBA championship finals. The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in the fifth game to lift the Championship for a record-setting 18th time. They have now overtaken the Los Angeles Lakers, who have 17 titles.
Kyrgios, who is an avid Boston Celtics supporter, was understandably ecstatic about the victory. He expressed his happiness about the win on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote:
"OMFG ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️✅✅✅✅✅ the @celtics☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️LETS GOOOOOOOO"
The Aussie also revisited his prediction from June 2023 when he claimed that Jayson Tatum would take the Celtics to victory in the same way LeBron James did with the Los Angeles Lakers when he was 27 years old.
"Most definitely, most definitely. I think the stat was LeBron (James) did not bring a ring until he was 27 or something. So Tatum’s 26 so next year basically guaranteed champs. Mark my words," Kyrgios said in an interview when he was asked 'Will Jayson Tatum bring the championship to the city of Boston?'
Kyrgios shared the clip and wrote:
"I knew it the whole time."
Nick Kyrgios: "I kind of want to turn the clock back and follow that NBA dream"
Nick Krygios is open about his love for basketball. The Aussie reminisced about relinquishing the NBA dream in favor of tennis in an episode of his talk show 'Good Trouble'.
He said that he loved basketball culture and wished to turn back the clock to have an opportunity to follow the basketball path.
"I loved basketball. I loved the culture. I used to sit there watching VCR tapes and CDs of Vince Carter, and Nike Dunks, and I loved everything about basketball, the camaraderie, the teamwork. I kind of want to turn the clock back and follow that NBA dream," Nick Kyrgios said [06:06].
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist also revealed that he hated tennis growing up and joined tennis due to his mother's persuasion. Krygios said that he was overweight growing up and started playing tennis as a means to stay active.
"I hated tennis. I grew up very fat, overweight as a kid and my mum saw that and said, "You need to be a bit active." She dragged me down to the tennis courts and got me into tennis. I hated it. I was crying... It was traumatizing to be honest."
