Serena Williams' husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, is riding high on the success of his co-produced National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) reality show 'The Offseason.' The series, which offers a rare glimpse into the lives of elite women athletes during their downtime, has surpassed 180 million views since its debut in October 2024.
Premiered on October 18, 'The Offseason' is the brainchild of Ohanian and NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Midge Purce. The six-episode series provides an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the lives of 11 NWSL players as they train, live, and bond together in a house in Florida for two weeks during the offseason.
The show features top NWSL talent, including former NJ/NY Gotham FC player Taylor Smith and Houston Dash’s Michelle Alozie and Paige Nielson. The first episode alone attracted over 2.5 million views within 24 hours of its release, quickly surpassing 10 million views in just a few days.
Ohanian has long championed women's sports. A few years back, Reddit's co-founder invested $100 million as the primary shareholder in the NWSL club Angel City FC to promote women's soccer in the United States.
The 41-year-old proudly shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) with a celebratory post, writing:
"Light work. 180,000,000 and counting!! More @OffseasonFC announcements to come."
Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian drops clues about 'The Offseason' season 2 as NWSL reality series hits new heights
Serena Williams' husband, tech entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian recently, dropped hints about a potential second season of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) reality show 'The Offseason.'
Sports journalist Jenna Tonelli shared her conversation with Orlando Pride midfielder Ally Watt on X (formerly Twitter), prompting Ohanian to use the opportunity to tease details about the show’s next edition.
"After winning the #NWSL Championship I asked Ally Watt if she'll bring the trophy and the Shield to season 2 of @OffseasonFC: "I haven't heard anything about a second season, waiting for that, but I don't know, Midge might not want to invite me back now, so Midge, I'm sorry!"" Tonelli wrote.
"Everyone wants to know about @OffseasonFC Season Two... Standby..." Alexis Ohanian wrote.
In the same thread, an X user suggested releasing the episodes before the new NWSL season to build anticipation. Ohanian responded positively, hinting that the next season might arrive sooner than expected.
