Former tennis pro Lindsay Davenport unarguably gave the racket sport her all but her legacy isn't fully written yet as her son Jagger Leach looks forward to taking on the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner soon.

Davenport claimed three Grand Slam singles titles — the US Open (1998), Wimbledon (1999), and Australian Open (2000) — the Year-end Finals (1999), and the Olympics gold in 1996.

The former World No. 1's stature grew bigger on Saturday, January 25, as Madison Keys, her former student, kissed glory at the Melbourne Major by defeating two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 in the final.

Notably, Davenport's son Leach came close to writing his name in the history books at the Australian Open as he produced an impressive run in the juniors competition. Seeded fifth, Leach defeated one opponent after the other until losing 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2 to fellow American Benjamin Willwerth in the semifinal.

At the 2025 Australian Open, Sportskeeda notably talked with the teenager and discovered more about his personality through various questions.

Sportskeeda: How do you look at yourself as a tennis player?

Jagger Leach: I like to think of myself as an aggressive player and a guy who takes chances in the big moments and goes for my shots, try and dictate the play. I’m working on coming to the net more.

Sportskeeda: How do you cool down after a match?

Jagger Leach: Normally I’d shower and then go have a long stretch and see a physio, which is what I’m gonna do after this. But I was trying to get the interviews done quickly so I don’t have to worry about it later. That’s probably what I should’ve done.

Sportskeeda: Your mom is obviously an inspiration to millions. But is there anyone else who you look up to?

Jagger Leach: Yeah, my mom is obviously a huge inspiration for me but I also look up to all the other great legends of the sport. All the current professionals that I see on TV every day and I try, you know, to learn as much as I can from each of them.

Sportskeeda: What’s your fondest memory of traveling with your mom on the tour?

Jagger Leach: Honestly, I can’t remember much of that I was less than one years old, I see pictures and stuff. But when my mom was coaching Madison Keys, I have a lot of great memories watching her play, cheering her on and sitting in the box with her and some of the people of her team.

Sportskeeda: Are you excited about playing on the NCAA circuit?

Jagger Leach: I’m very excited. I think, so many guys recently have developed and got so much better and gotten ready for the pro tour through college tennis. For example, Jacob Fearnley, Cameron Norrie, both came out of TCU [Texas Christian University] pretty recently and are very successful on the tour. So, I think it’s a great place to develop and you get a lot of matches. Fitness and housing kind of stuff is paid for so I’m really excited for the opportunity to play for them.

Sportskeeda: Is there anyone you can’t wait to have a battle against on the court?

Jagger Leach: It’d be a dream to play [Carlos] Alcaraz or [Jannik] Sinner. I take inspiration from both of them because they’re kind of the top dogs right now. And I think, they’ll still be around when hopefully I’m on the tour. It’d be a dream to play one of them.
