Lorenzo Musetti surprised fans by debuting a fresh, shorter hairstyle ahead of the 2025 season. After his opening match at the Hong Kong Open, the Italian revealed that his girlfriend, Veronica Confalonieri, played a key role in the decision.

Second seed Musetti received a bye in the first round and faced Canada's Gabriel Diallo in the second round on Thursday, January 2. The Italian opened his 2025 season in style defeating the Canadian 6-4, 6-3. During the post-match interview, Musetti revealed that a lot of thought went into his new haircut but it was Confalonieri who got the job done.

"Thought about it a lot. Last couple of years I had long hair but became a bit annoying to dry. It was my girlfriend who made the decision to cut it!" Musetti said.

Lorenzo Musetti and Veronica Confalonieri have been in a relationship since 2022 when they made it official on Instagram. Confalonieri, a graphic designer for Sky Sports Italy since 2019, also dabbles in modeling and promotes brands on her social media.

The couple, who enjoy holidays together, are parents to a son, Ludovico. Musetti shared the news of his son’s arrival in November 2023 and Ludovico was born in March 2024.

Italian tennis star Lorenzo Musetti's hairstyle evolution has captured the attention of fans over the years. Initially known for his iconic ponytail, in 2023, he decided to embrace a shorter haircut.

Explaining the change, in an interview with Tennis Channel, Musetti shared:

"You know, it’s been quite a long time that I didn’t make the decision to cut short the hair. But Italy was so hot and I couldn’t move with the ponytail because I had really messy hair and I didn’t like it.
"So I finally decided with my girlfriend that she approved," Musetti said. The joint decision, even with my family. But I mean, I think I look a little bit younger. With the longer hair, I was a little bit older. I mean, the look."

By 2025, Musetti opted for an even shorter and more refined style. He will also be hoping for a change on-court as he is now looking for his first title since 2022. In the quarterfinal in Hong Kong, Musetti will take on Jaume Munar on Friday, January 3. The Spaniard got the better of Portugal’s Nuno Borges 6-3, 7-5.
