Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian celebrated Giannis Antetokounmpo-starring the $4 billion team, the Milwaukee Bucks, clinching the 2024 NBA Cup. Ohanian and Williams share a close bond with Antetokounmpo and the Reddit co-founder was even at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to witness the championship game.
After losing in the semifinals in the inaugural edition, the Bucks conquered their demons of the past to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunders 97-81 and win the NBA Cup. Antetokounmpo came up big time for the Bucks scoring 26 points and was adjudged the NBA Cup's Most Valuable Player.
Alexis Ohanian took to X to congratulate the Bucks and shared a photo of the jubilant atmosphere in the Arena. He had earlier cheered the Bucks on when they had clinched a spot in the knockouts.
"Congrats @Bucks @Giannis_An34 @Dame_Lillard and co. Looked DOMINANT against a great defense."
Ohanian also added a video of the Bucks lifting the NBA Cup but knew that there was more to be won. He also hailed Antetokounmpo after he was awarded the MVP.
"Jobs not finished, but great milestone on the season 😮💨 lotta folks were sleeping on this team," Serena Williams' husband wrote.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been in phenomenal form this year, firing on all cylinders. During the group stages of the NBA Cup, they topped the group without losing a single game defeating the likes of the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and Indiana Pacers.
Following this, they defeated the Orlando Magic 114-109 in the quarterfinals and the Atlanta Hawks 110-102, before clinching the cup against Oklahoma City.
When Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian praised Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brother for honoring their father's legacy
To honor their father's legacy, Giannis and his brother Thanasi Antetokounpo started the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation in 2017. To mark the seventh anniversary, they organized a game of golf.
"Thank you for coming out and supporting my family! 7 years ago today our dad went to heaven and we started CAFF to honor his legacy, I know he’s looking down and he’s proud," Giannis wrote.
Ohanian praised the Antetokounmpo brothers and wrote:
"Getting to know Giannis, Thanasis, and their family over the years has been a joy (and inspiring as hell) — he's the real deal and I'm so happy to be a Day Zero supporter of his foundation, honoring his dad's great legacy," Ohanian wrote.
Serena Williams' husband doesn't only follow the NBA. He is also a supporter of the WNBA and recently congratulated Caitlin Clark on becoming TIME Magazine's 'Athlete of the Year'.
