Madison Keys has shared an update about Hurricane Milton from Orlando where she lives. The American tennis star assured fans of her safety while sharing prayers and love for the people of Florida through her Instagram story.
Earlier this week, Keys was in Wuhan participating in the WTA 1000 event in the Chinese city. The unseeded American fell to ninth seed Beatriz Haddad Maia 7-6(7), 6-2 in the first round before returning home.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, October 9, Hurricane Milton touched down in Florida as a Category 3 storm. It came less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene had reportedly killed over 200 people in the area.
After the hurricane's worst had passed late Thursday, news has been coming in that the Orlando International Airport and Tampa Airport would reopen on Friday.
Along with Madison Keys, Serena Williams' ex-coach Rennae Stubbs also reacts to the damage done by Hurricane Milton
Serena Williams' ex-coach Rennae Stubbs took to X to post about CNN's Anderson Cooper's coverage of Hurricane Milton. The former Australian tennis star posted videos of Cooper's coverage of the natural calamity from on the ground and said that he was working hard.
In one of the videos, Cooper even got hit by an object but luckily it was styrofoam. He could continue reporting unhurt.
"This guy is working hard tonight! Stay safe down there @AC360. He still had some humor when he got smacked in the face with thankfully some styrofoam! #cnn #milton #andersoncooper @cnn," Rennae Stubbs wrote.
The former doubles No. 1 had taken to X before Hurricane Milton hit Florida to slam the alleged anti-climate change stance held by Republicans JD Vance, Donald Trump, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
"When are ignorant people going to listen to the SCIENTISTS! You keep voting for people that say there is no such thing as climate change!? Idiots like Vance/Desantis/Trump! Vance has the audacity two say if you don’t have kids you aren’t invested in the future! I'm more invested than YOU!" Stubbs wrote.
Stubbs even had to fight off a troll on the post who asked her not to post opinions about other topics and "stick to tennis." The Aussie coach, who has overseen the likes of Serena Williams and Eugenie Bouchard, responded by blocking the troll and saying that she would block anyone who asked her to "stick to tennis."
