Madison Keys and husband Bjorn Fratangelo are enjoying their newlywed life a week after their wedding. Keys recently shared a selfie of the couple, celebrating one week of their marriage.
Before their wedding in Charleston, Keys and Fratangelo had been dating since 2017. Given their careers in professional tennis—Keys on the WTA tour and Fratangelo as a former ATP player—their wedding was attended by numerous tennis stars, including Jessica Pegula, Mitchell Krueger, Sloane Stephens, Jennifer Brady, and Taylor Townsend.
On Saturday, Keys shared a mirror selfie of the couple on her Instagram feed. They were casually dressed, with Keys wearing blue denim jeans and a sleeveless brown top, while Fratangelo sported black shorts and an green sweater.
“One week of Mr & Mrs,” Keys captioned the image.
Keys' husband, Fratangelo, who turned pro in 2012, reached the top 100 on the ATP rankings and competed in all four Grand Slams during his active years. After the departure of Georgi Rumenov Payakov as Keys' coach, Fratangelo began coaching her in June 2023.
Madison Keys missed the Australian Open and other early-season tournaments this year due to a shoulder injury. She made her comeback at the Miami Open in March. One of Keys' standout moments of the season came when she clinched the title at the Internationaux de Strasbourg. She defeated Xinyu Wang in the opening round, then beat Magda Linette in the quarterfinals to set up a clash with Liudmila Samsonova in the semifinals, whom she also defeated. In the final, she faced compatriot Danielle Collins and won 6–1, 6–2.
Additionally, Keys reached the semifinals of the Madrid Open, where she was knocked out by eventual champion Iga Świątek, and the semifinals of the Eastbourne International, where Leylah Fernandez outclassed her. She also reached the quarterfinals of the Charleston Open and the Italian Open.
Madison Keys on planning a wedding while competing at the US Open -“I wouldn’t recommend it"
After her second-round match against Maya Joint at the 2024 US Open, Madison Keys was asked during an on-court interview how she was managing the demands of having Fratangelo as her coach, planning their wedding, and traveling together. She responded with a smile, saying that she wouldn’t recommend it to everyone but that it was working for them and they were doing well.
“I don’t know if I’d say it’s working. I wouldn’t recommend it. Planning a wedding, renovating a house and traveling together full time while having to be in Airbnb’s, in hotels and all that—maybe don’t do all three of those things at the same time, but it's going okay, our house is done mostly so we’re good," Madison Keys said (1:50).
Keys was knocked out in the third round by Belgian player Elise Mertens. During the season, she played a total of 36 matches, winning 24 of them.
