My love for this sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going. Idemooo," Djokovic wrote via his Instagram account.

Novak Djokovic has left the top spot in the ATP rankings. Jannik Sinner, having a great run of form over the last six months, has ascended to the World No. 1 ranking.

The Serb has fallen to the third spot, with Carlos Alcaraz taking the second. The last time he was ranked as low as No. 3 was in May 2023.

Djokovic's historic stay at the top spot ended after 428 weeks, the most in history. He also spent 122 consecutive weeks as the World No. 1, the fourth most in the history. The Serb first clinched the top spot in July 2011.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion could miss Wimbledon 2024 with the injury, denting his ranking points further.
